RV Insurance
Let us help you find the right coverage for your Recreational Vehicle (RV)!
Recreational Vehicles come in all sorts of designs and sizes and fit into a wide range of lifestyles, from the occasional weekend getaway to year-round living. This is why finding the right insurance for your RV is so important.
What qualifies as an RV?
There are 3 classifications for RVs:
Class A - Motorhome. These RVs often look like a large bus and tend to be the most expensive type of RV.
Class B - Campervans. These RVs are smaller than their class A counterparts. They typically are easier to drive and handle than the larger motorhome. They are referred to as campervans as they resemble a large van with a raised roof.
Class C - These RVs are built on the same chassis as a truck or large van. They have the typical cab seating for the driver and usually have a raised section that extends over the cap that can be used for storage or a sleeping area.
Do I need to insure my RV?
Yes. Any state that requires personal auto insurance also requires your RV to be insured with a liability policy. Different states will have different requirements for minimum coverage and many may also require collision insurance and uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage.
What kind of coverage do RV Insurance policies offer?
Similar to your car or personal auto, an RV policy offers Liability Insurance and should have options for Collision Insurance, Comprehensive Insurance, and uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage.
You may want to also consider adding additional coverage for towing, which can be significantly more expensive compared to a car, and hotel costs if you are not able to stay in your RV due to an accident, vandalism, theft or other damage.
The personal effect inside your RV are generally protected under your homeowners or renters insurance policy for claims of theft and vandalism. However, if you travel with a significant amount of electronics or other expensive items you may want to add additional coverage to your RV policy.
